DYSMORPHIA

Dysmorphia is a condition that increasingly affects young people in today’s society, who, obsessed with their outward appearance, often find themselves repeatedly gazing into mirrors, noticing imperfections or flaws that, to others, seem either minimal or nonexistent. This series draws inspiration from the Reflections project, enriching it with new meaning and amplifying fluidity and distortion as metaphors for the perception of self. The almost liquid reflections transform the bodies into ethereal and fragmented compositions, evoking the subtle tension that arises when one’s image does not align with their internal perception. For this reason, the figures dissolve into space, challenging the boundary between the real and the imagined, revealing a vulnerability that transcends physicality. With these works, the artist invites the viewer to reflect on their own identity and the pursuit of external validation, which often leads to an obsession with one’s body image.
