Milan Art Week – April 1-6, 2025

During Milan Art Week 2025, Antonio Schiavano was a guest at the exhibition “Tra la perduta gente” by artist Daniele Mazzoleni, promoted by the Municipality of Milan and coordinated by the Arte Totale Association, in collaboration with MIART.

Schiavano’s participation took the form of an exhibition hosted at Via Binda 19, where he presented two of his most significant projects: Dysmorphia and The Beauty and the Bane.

Both projects reflect on the relationship between image, identity, and esthetic standards, focusing on distortions of self-perception and the social construction of beauty. Dysmorphia explores the hidden fragility behind the obsession with an unattainable ideal, while The Beauty and the Bane deconstructs glossy esthetics thru Photomorphia, a technique in which images from the beauty world are transformed with oils, paints, and abrasive materials, revealing their most authentic and vulnerable dimension.

Thru this dual vision, Antonio Schiavano proposes a powerful and destabilizing visual experience that challenges dominant esthetic stereotypes and invites us to rediscover beauty in imperfection and the uniqueness of being.

THE BEAUTY AND THE BANE

A visual exploration that delves beyond appearances, restoring meaning to imperfections. Every mark becomes a revelation, every manual intervention a critical act against the falsification of reality. The result is a visceral manifesto that challenges imposed models and directs the gaze back to the truth of forms.

DYSMORPHIA

A journey inside the erratic self-image where restless shapes vacillate between desire and appearance. The pieces examine how outside opinions shape identity formation, offering a complex, delicate, and intensely human emotional terrain.
